Bu Bites

Bu BitesFor years I have been making Elfie Biscuits — they really are the perfect dog treat (recipe coming soon). Since we celebrated one year with Buddha this week, I decided to work up a recipe for a homemade cat treat. I took all of his favorite flavors and created this treat.

Making homemade treats for your pets is simple and fast and it’s so much better to know exactly what you are giving your pet, since most store bought treats have too many suspicious ingredients. Remember, homemade treats don’t have any preservatives, so they won’t last nearly as long as store bought “preserved” treats. Also, these are just treats; they’re meant as a supplement a healthy diet, not as a substitute.

Ingredients
  1. 1 can of tuna or salmon
  2. 1 cup cornmeal
  3. 1 cup whole wheat flour
  4. ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  5. ¼ cup pumpkin puree
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Place all ingredients together in the bowl of a food processor, pulse to form dough. Roll out to ¼ inch thickness on a floured board and cut into small treat size bites. A small fish cookie cutter would be cute here.
  3. Place treats on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden and not soft. Let cool before sharing with your cat!
