Sazerac

SazaracThe Sazerac is the quintessential New Orleans cocktail. The cocktail’s classic flavors are wonderful any time of year and with almost any cuisine. I’m a big fan.

Ingredients
  1. 1 teaspoon simple syrup
  2. 2 ounces rye whiskey
  3. 2 drops Orlands bitters
  4. 2 drops aromatic bitters
  5. Pernod
  6. lemon peel
Instructions
  1. Start by chilling a short glass in the freezer. This is a very small cocktail, so you only need a small glass, or a martini glass will work.
  2. In a tall glass combine the simple syrup, whiskey, and both bitters. Add ice and stir vigorously until chilled.
  3. Pour a ½ ounce or so of Pernod into the glass and swirl to coat the glass, pour out the remainder. Strain the cocktail into prepared glass and rub the rim with the lemon peel and then squeeze so the oils go into the cocktail and enjoy!
